Thoughts and Opinions

Guess what peoples! I'm in a ranting mood again :) 'uh oh' I hear you all say!

Okay,
My mate just said what a fail iRobot is and backed up his statement with 'Actually, it'd be quite a win if it wasn't so CHEESY!' (Yes you know who you are!) which, is fair enough I guess seeing as we're not doing an exam and he doesn't have to back up this by giving examples as to why it's cheesy.

He's not the only one who has been commenting and disagreeing with my likes and dislikes though. I've had comments about my taste in music, what films I like and dislike, my interests etc. If I like a band or singer that someone else doesn't like, then what gives them the right to pick faults with that band or singer in order to try and convince me that I'm wrong by liking them? Nothing, that's what. I'm not going to automatically change my mind because a certain person disagrees with me. I don't care if they then like me less just because I like or dislike it either.

People are entitled to their own opinions. They always have and always will be because that's part of what makes us human. If someone wants to state that they agree or disagree with my opinion, then they can by all means but they should at least state after, '... but that's just my opinion.' and leave it at that. That's both of us said what we needed to say then.

I'm not just saying this happens to me, oh no, this happens to everyone. We all have friends that will pick fault when it comes to our likes and dislikes and it annoys us all. We're made to feel like we're a bad person if we like a certain band, dislike a certain film etc but we're not bad at all! We are allowed to like what we want to like. We're allowed to not like what we want to not like and we all have our reasons for it as well.

Everyone to their own, I always say. If you're passionate about something whether you like or dislike it then stick to it, don't change your mind about it just because someone disagrees with you.

Having our own thoughts and opinions again, is what makes us human. If we all thought the same about everything- minus the mechanical parts- how would that make us different from robots? Our thoughts and opinions are what make us unique. No-one likes all the things I do, no-one dislikes all the things that I do and no-one thinks the same as I do (thank goodness!).

So my advice to all you readers (if any!) ... by all means, state how you feel about someone's opinion but mark that at the end by saying that what you've just commented is your opinion and then let them believe what they want. If they carry an argument further then okay, back up your points but don't lead them to think that they're wrong in thinking how they do about something. If they're being cocky about it, walk away cause it's not worth it. Maybe add on the end of their rant 'Everyone to their own' - that seems to shut them up.
